PURPOSE : A catalyst for dehydrogenating metal hydride and a method for generating hydrogen using the same are provided to generate hydrogen at low temperatures by activating the dehydrogenating reaction of the metal hydride.
CONSTITUTION : A catalyst for dehydrogenating metal hydride includes palladium(II) as a center metal, counter anions, and ancillary ligands. The counter anions are non-coordinate-bonded with the center metal. The ancillary ligands are coordinate-bonded with the center metal. The counter anions are one or more selected from BF_4^-, SbF_6^-, and PF_6^-. The ancillary ligands are one or more selected from allyl, 2, 4-hexadiene, 1, 5-cyclooctadiene, and acetonitrile. The metal hydride is one of NaBH_4, LiBH_4, NaAlH_4, and LiAlH_4. A method for generating hydrogen using the catalyst includes the following : A solid synthesized material is obtained by mixing palladium, a BF_4^- ion source, and a material for supplying the ancillary ligands(S1). The solid synthesized material is dissolved in a solvent to obtain a supersaturated solution (S2). A re-crystallizing process is implemented based on the supersaturated solution(S3).
