PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light source for a solar simulator which has an excellent spectrum matching degree as pseudo sunlight with an inexpensive configuration in place of a xenon lamp or a metal halide lamp using a rare earth metal.
SOLUTION : In a metal halide lamp in which a rare gas, mercury and halogenated indium are encapsulated into a discharge space, the halogenated indium is encapsulated at a density of 0.2 to 2.7 mg/cc. Continuous light emission is generated from all visible wavelengths to infrared wavelengths, thereby obtaining an excellent light source for a solar simulator.
