An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for recovering rare earth metal with high density and high purity from a rare earth compound rare earth metal including impurities, and an apparatus thereof and, more specifically, the present invention relates to a method for recovering rare earth metal from a rare earth compound, which uses a chloride-based eutectic electrolyte and uses liquid metal as a negative electrode in a molten salt electrolysis method with respect to a method for using the molten salt electrolysis method for recovering rare earth metal with high density and high purity from a rare earth compound or rare earth metal including impurities, and to an apparatus thereof. According to the present invention, an electrolyte capable of lowering corrosion property and largely decreasing the processing temperature is used, thereby providing an effect of largely improving process and apparatus stability more than with a conventional method. Moreover, the present invention is a relatively simple rare earth metal recovery process not requiring an additional process, thereby largely improving economic efficiency and easing more than that of the conventional method, and recovering the rare earth metal of a high density and high purity type highly required from industries.
