PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphor which is excellent in temperature characteristics, chromaticity, and luminous efficiency, and to provide a method of producing the same. SOLUTION : This invention relates to : a method of producing the phosphor, including adding a compound containing a metal element L selected from In and Ga to a raw material mixture obtained by mixing a compound containing a tetravalent metal element M1such as Si, a compound containing a trivalent metal element M2 such as Al, a compound containing a metal element M such as Sr, and a compound containing a luminescence center element EC selected from a rare earth element, and burning the resultant raw material mixture; and a red light emitting fluorescent material produced by the method thereof. The phosphor can produce a display white LED having high luminous efficiency and a high color reproduction region; a light white LED having high efficiency and rendition; and a white LED module on which a plurality of display white LEDs and the light white LEDs are arranged.
