PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing rare earth alloy powder, which can produce rare earth alloy powder having excellent magnetic properties by a HDDR (Hydrogen Decomposition Desorption Recombination) method and to provide a permanent magnet. SOLUTION : The method for producing rare earth alloy powder includes : an alloy preparation step (step S11) of casting the raw material alloy of R2T14B to obtain a raw material alloy; a hydrogen storage step (step S13) of charging the inside of a reaction furnace 10 with the raw material alloy S, and putting the inside of the reaction furnace 10 into a hydrogen atmosphere; a HD (Hydrogenation Decomposition) step (step S14) of subjecting the raw material alloy S to hydrogenation decomposition in the reaction furnace 10 to obtain a decomposed product; a temperature increasing step (step S15) of increasing the temperature at the inside of the reaction furnace 10; a DR (Desorption Recombination) step (step S 16) of releasing hydrogen from the decomposed product at the inside of the reaction furnace 10, and reducing the concentration of hydrogen in the decomposed product to obtain rare earth alloy powder; and a cooling step (step S17) of cooling the rare earth alloy powder to room temperature. The raw material alloy S is pulverized in either or both of the hydrogen storage step and the hydrogenation decomposition step. COPYRIGHT : (C)2011, JPO&INPIT
