PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide rare earth-iron based alloy powder for magnetic refrigeration which is simultaneously provided with excellent corrosion resistance and satisfactory thermal conductivity. SOLUTION : The rare earth-iron based alloy powder for magnetic refrigeration has : an NaZn13 type crystal structure or a Th2Zn17 type crystal structure; a composition composed of rare earth elements including at least La or Pr and transition metal including at least Fe; and an average particle diameter of 20 to 2, 000 μm, wherein the alloy powder surface is uniformly coated with a phosphate film with an average film thickness of 3 to 100 nm. In the phosphate film, preferably, the atomic ratio of (the transition metal element)/(the rare earth elements) is ≥8, and also, the atomic ratio of C/P is 1 to 10. COPYRIGHT : (C)2011, JPO&INPIT
