PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnet and a method of manufacturing the same, in which crystal grains are prevented from coarsening in a primary molding process. SOLUTION : The method of manufacturing the magnet includes : the primary molding step of obtaining a primary molding by molding an alloy piece consisting basically of a rare earth element, iron and boron; and a plastic processing step of imparting anisotropy by aligning magnetic easy axis directions of main phase crystal grains by performing plastic processing on the primary molding. In the primary molding process, hot molding is carried out in an He gas atmosphere. In this case, in-powder temperatures are made high and uniform since He gas has high heat transfer capacity. Further, cooling performance of cooling the primary molding is improved since the He gas has high heat transfer capacity. In this case, gauge pressure in the He gas atmosphere of the primary molding process is suitably set to be 0 to 0.2 MPa. COPYRIGHT : (C)2011, JPO&INPIT
