PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R-T-B-based permanent magnet which achieves further improvement of a coercive force HcJ and a residual magnetic flux density Br, and has good strength, electric resistance of a grain boundary phase or sintering stability.
SOLUTION : An R-T-B-based permanent magnet contains main phase particles formed of an R2T14B compound and a grain boundary. R is one or more rare earth elements containing Nd as an essential component, T is Fe or Fe and Co, and B is boron. The compound further contains X, Z and M. X is one or more selected from Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Hf and Ta, Z is one or more selected from C and N, and M contains Ga as an essential component and is formed of one or more selected from Al, Si, Ge, Cu, Bi and Sn. The grain boundary contains an XZ phase formed of a face-centered cubic structure.
