An antibacterial stainless steel with an electrochemical oxidation film is disclosed, which comprises a stainless steel substrate and an antibacterial oxidation film coated on the stainless steel substrate, and the said antibacterial oxidation film is a spinel-type oxidation film. A method for producing the antibacterial stainless steel with electrochemical oxidation film is also disclosed, in which a stainless steel material degreased is immersed into a mixture solution for electrochemical oxidation, and the electrochemical oxidation is carried out at 30-60°C for 5-20 minutes by alternatively applying positive current and negative current with current density of 10-100 mA/ dm2, thus a thin oxide film with spinel structure is formed. After that it is washed by rinsing and then dried. The said mixture solution for electrochemical oxidation is formulated per litre as follow : 200-500g of sulfuric acid, 50-250g of chromic acid, 5-20g of ammonium molybdate, 5-20g of manganese sulfate, 0.1-10g of silver salt and 0.2-20g of rare-earth sulfate or rare-earth nitrate. The product obtained has good antibacterial effect.
