PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prevent an excitation light source from being damaged by retrograding laser beams. SOLUTION : A fiber laser device includes a rare-earth added optical fiber 15 as at least a gain medium and the excitation light sources 111 to 118 generating laser beams for optically exciting the rare-earth added optical fiber 15. The fiber laser device further includes combiners 131 and 132 optically coupling laser beams for excitation generated by the excitation light sources 111 to 118 and signal beams from a fiber 141 for transmitting the signal beams and projecting the optically coupled beams to the rare-earth added optical fiber 15. Beam-absorbing raw-material fibers 121 to 128 absorbing laser beams in a specific wavelength band while retrograding towards the excitation light sources 111 to 118 from the combiners 131 and 132 are interposed between the laser-beam outgoing ends of the excitation light sources and the excitation-light incident ends of the combiners.
