PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To lengthen a service life of a wire in cutting by a wire saw device by using a coolant mainly composed of water. SOLUTION : This cutting method uses the wire 20 for fixing an abrasive grain by a resin layer formed on an outer peripheral surface of a conductor, and includes : a preparing process for winding the wire having a surface covered with a lubricating liquid including glycol on a pair of reel bobbins 40a and 40b; a process for allowing the wire wound on the pair of reel bobbins to travel between a plurality of rollers 10a to 10c; and a process for cutting a rare earth alloy by the traveling wire while supplying the first coolant mainly composed of the water to a part for cutting the rare earth alloy by the wire.
