PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide : a composite particle which can suppress mutual aggregation of semiconductor particles and is excellent in durability; a resin composition using the same; and a wavelength conversion layer and a photovoltaic device with excellent performance. SOLUTION : The composite particle includes a semiconductor particle having rare earth element and an inorganic compound particle different from the semiconductor particle. The resin composition includes the composite particle and a curable resin. The wavelength conversion layer is obtained by curing a layer composed of the resin composition.
