PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new phosphor excited by the light from 400 to 500 nm wavelength of near ultraviolet light to visible light region, and emitting the light of a higher brightness than those of conventional phosphor for fluorescent lights, and a method for producing the phosphor, capable of easily improving the conversion efficiency of the phosphor.
SOLUTION : This phosphor is a compound having at least 1 kind of an element A selected from an alkaline earth metal elements, gallium, silicon, oxygen, sulfur and a rare earth element imparting a luminescence character as base materials, and the compound is characterized by consisting of compounded particles constituted by an AGa2S4 type crystalline phase and SiO2 crystalline phase.
