PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prolong the life of a lighting device of a flash lamp. SOLUTION : The lighting device 1 of a flash lamp drives the flash lamp A having a light-emitting tube in which rare gas is enclosed. Inside the light-emitting tube, a first electrode A1 and a second electrode A2 are arranged opposite to each other, and outside the light-emitting tube, a trigger electrode A3 is installed adjacent to this light-emitting tube. The lighting device 1 of the flash lamp includes : a DC power supply VDD; a switching element SW to connect the first electrode A1 and a positive electrode of the DC power supply VDD; and a resistance R to connect the first electrode A1 and the positive electrode of the DC power supply VDD.
