PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a discharge lamp device with an ultraviolet emission auxiliary light source capable of starting operation at 2 kV or less arranged in a double-tube type discharge lamp with a reflecting mirror built in. SOLUTION : In the discharge lamp device provided with a discharge lamp equipped with an arc tube consisting of a translucent ceramic container in an outer tube and having a pair of electrodes facing with each other in a tube axis direction in the arc tube, and an ultraviolet emission auxiliary light source, the ultraviolet emission auxiliary light source is provided with a metal foil member in a quartz glass container with rare gas airtightly sealed, the metal foil member includes a long side direction and a short side direction, a creeping length in the short side direction is 90% or more of an inner diameter of the quartz glass container, and a cross section shape in a perpendicular direction to a tube axis of the metal foil member is in a U-shape or a V-shape.
