PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To greatly simplify the manufacturing process of a rare earth magnet and simultaneously recover the surface processing degraded layer. SOLUTION : After a weather-resistant surface coating is formed on the surface of a magnet element, a heat treatment is carried out. The melting point of the weather-resistant surface coating is made not lower than the heat treatment temperature. The weather-resistant surface coating may be formed after a recovering coating containing a rare earth element is formed. The weather-resistant surface coating contains any one of Ni, Si, Al alloy, Au, and Pt. The magnet element is an NdFeB based rare earth sintered magnet.
