FIELD : physics.
SUBSTANCE : permanent magnet is made by applying a Dy coating onto the surface of a Fe-B-rare-earth element magnet having a predetermined configuration and diffusion of Dy deposited on the surface of the magnet into boundary phases of crystalline grains of the magnet through thermal treatment at a predefined temperature. The step for applying the coating involves a first stage for heating a working chamber used at the step for applying the coating and creating an atmosphere of metal vapours inside the working chamber by evaporating evaporable metallic material inside the working chamber, and a second step for putting the magnet into the working chamber whereby the said magnet is kept at temperature lower than that of the working chamber, and then selective deposition of the evaporated metallic material onto the surface of the magnet under the effect of temperature difference between the working chamber and the magnet while temperature of the magnet reaches a predefined value.
EFFECT : increased efficiency of making a permanent magnet with low cost of the magnet.
