PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alkaline storage battery system capable of obtaining reliability for a long period of time by enabling to attain both reduction of a negative electrode discharge reserve and maintenance of a low-temperature output. SOLUTION : In the alkaline storage battery system, zinc (Zn) is added to a nickel positive electrode 11 with an addition amount of 8% by mass or less to the mass of nickel. A hydrogen storage alloy of an negative electrode 12 has an A5B19 type crystal structure, with a stoichiometric ratio (B/A) representing a molar ratio of a component B to a component A ranging from 3.6 or more and 3.9 or less, and is represented by general formula of Lnl-xMgxNiy-aMa (where, Ln is an element selected from rare earth elements including Y, and M is at least one kind of element selected from Al, Co, Mn and Zn) with a content of the element M of 1.0% by mass or less. An electrolyte has a concentration of 6.5 mol/L or less and contains Li by 0.3 mol/L or more, and the alkaline storage battery system is arranged to control partial charging and discharging.
