PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve quality of signal light by suppressing PHB. SOLUTION : A first LD 141 outputs first excitation light. A second LD 142 outputs second excitation light. An EDF 113 is doped with a rare-earth element and excited by the first excitation light to amplify input light. An EDF 116 is doped with a rare-earth element and excited by the second LD 142 to amplify the light output from the EDF 113. A ratio between the intensity of the first excitation light and the intensity of the second excitation light is controlled according to the number of signal light beams wavelength-multiplexed in the light input.
