The invention relates to an endoprosthesis (2) for implantation in the human or animal body, comprising a base body (4) which at least partially consists of a magnesium alloy that can be decomposed in vivo. According to the invention, the magnesium alloy is substantially free of aluminum and substantially free of scandium and contains yttrium and/or rare earths and/or zirconium as strength-inducing elements.
