PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a highly reliable dielectric ceramic which is suitable for constituting the dielectric ceramic layers of a monolithic ceramic capacitor obtained by firing under a reducing atmosphere and of which the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant is not deteriorated in proportion to its thickness reduction. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic is composed of ABO3(wherein, A is Ba or the like; and B is Ti or the like) as a main component and a rare earth element. When the cross section of each crystal grain 21 constituting the dielectric ceramic is observed, at least 70% of the crystal grains 21 have a cross-section in which a rare earth element solid solution area 22 occupies 5 to 70% of the area of the cross section and an area where rare earth elements are not forming a solid solution 23 occupies 10 to 80% of the periphery of the cross-section.
