PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide : a new light-emitting element which is more profitable than an organic EL element in element life and a production cost, also whose structure is simple like that of the organic EL element, wherein the element is suitable for light weighting and thinning; a method of manufacturing the same; a light-emitting panel and a light-emitting device provided with the same.
SOLUTION : The light-emitting element 1 includes an electrode layer 11, a first conductive layer 12, a second conductive layer 13 and an electrode layer 14 on a substrate 10 in order from the substrate 10 side. The first conductive layer 12 and the second conductive layer 13 come into contact with each other and constitute a pn-junction layer. At least one side of the first conductive layer 12 and the second conductive layer 13 is constituted by adding a rare earth element to an oxide. Thus, when electrons and holes are injected by voltage application to a pn-junction layer, a rare earth element is excited by energy generated by coupling of the injected electrons and holes, then light emission is generated with wavelength corresponding to energy discharged when the rare earth element is returned to the ground state from the excitation state.
