PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technology for preventing reduction in brightness of a plasma display panel without changing density of a rare gas in a discharge gas. SOLUTION : A manufacturing method of the plasma display panel whose front face plate 20 and rear face plate 10 are sealed via a sealing member 5, has a discharge gas atmosphere forming process in which, after positioning of the front face plate 20 and the rear face plate 10 is carried out either in a nitrogen atmosphere or in a vacuum atmosphere, in a space between the sealed front face plate 20 and the rear face plate 10, a discharge gas atmosphere of total pressure of 40 kPa or more and 80 kPa or less including a nitrogen gas of partial pressure of 0.07 Pa or more and 0.3 Pa or less is formed. By an experiment based on this manufacturing method, within a range that the partial pressure of a nitrogen gas is 0.07 Pa or more and 0.3 Pa or less, compared with the case that nitrogen is not introduced, it is confirmed that the brightness of plasma display becomes higher.
