PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical recording method and an optical recording device in which practical recording can be implemented to a recording medium using a material with rare-earth ion added phase-separated glass, as the recording material. SOLUTION : In the optical recording method, information recording is performed by altering absorption characteristics of light and luminescence characteristics of fluorescence by the irradiation of light, using a light source 1 with a pulsed laser of a pulse width 1 ps or less and its repetition frequency 1 MHz or more. The phase-separated glass is made to be the host glass of a recording medium 30, and the recording medium 30 has a recording material added with at least one or more kinds of rare-earth elements.
