PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide calcium magnesium aluminosilicate (CMAS) mitigation compositions, environmental barrier coatings including a separate CMAS mitigation layer comprising the composition, and a high-temperature substrate member having CMAS mitigation capacity.SOLUTION : The CMAS mitigation composition is selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements, rare earth oxides, zirconia, hafnia partially or fully stabilized with alkaline earth or rare earth elements, zirconia partially or fully stabilized with alkaline earth or rare earth elements, magnesium oxide, cordierite, aluminum phosphate, magnesium silicate, and combinations thereof.COPYRIGHT : (C)2010, JPO&INPIT
