PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To enhance the magnetization and reduce the cost of an Sm-Co-based magnet superior in heat resistance by enhancing the Fe concentration in the magnet while keeping a crystal structure and the like which yield magnet characteristics. SOLUTION : The permanent magnet has a composition expressed by R(Fep(TisM1-s)qCurCo1-p-q-r)z (wherein R represents at least one element selected from rare earth elements including Y; M represents at least one element selected from Zr and Hf; and p, q, r, s and z are numerals which respectively satisfy 0.3≤p≤0.6, 0.01≤q≤0.1, 0.01≤r≤0.15, 0.2≤s≤0.8 and 6≤z≤9 by an atom ratio); and has a structure mainly formed of a Th2Zn17 type crystal phase and a CaCu5 type crystal phase.
