An R-Fe-B anisotropic sintered magnet which comprises, as the main phase, an R2Fe14B type compound containing a light rare-earth element (RL) (at least either of neodymium and praseodymium) as the main rare earth element (R) and contains a heavy rare-earth element (RH) (at least one member selected from the group consisting of dysprosium and terbium). In the main phase, the crystal lattice has a c-axis oriented in a given direction. When a plane which is located in the range of from the surface of a magnetic pole of the magnet to a depth of 500 μm from the surface and is parallel to the magnetic-pole surface is analyzed by X-ray diffractometry with a CuKα line, it gives a diffraction pattern which includes a part having at least two diffraction peaks in the 2Θ range of 60.5-61.5°.COPYRIGHT KIPO & WIPO 2010
