Provided is an ultraviolet light source device comprising an excitation light source, an optical waveguide having a core portion for generating light by absorbing the excitation light from the excitation light source, an optical coupling portion for coupling the excitation light from the excitation light source optically with the core portion of the optical waveguide, and a light radiation section for radiating light generated from the optical waveguide to the outside, and is characterized in that the excitation light from the excitation light source has any wavelength selected from a wavelength range of 340-500 nm, the core portion of the optical waveguide contains of at least one kind of rare earth element selected from Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, or Tm, and the light generated from the optical waveguide has a wavelength of 405 nm or less and shorter than the wavelength of the excitation light.
