PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material which is suitable for an electrode of a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp.
SOLUTION : In the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 100 having a glass tube 102 with a phosphor layer 101 on an inner wall surface and enclosing a rare gas and mercury in the inside and a pair of electrodes 103 arranged on both ends of the glass tube 102, the electrode is formed by a Ni alloy which includes at least one of element of 0.001-5.0 wt.% in total selected from Ti, Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Si, Al, Y, Mg, In, and rare earth elements and is made of Ni and impurities as a balance. Electric discharge nature, oxidation resistance, sputtering-proof nature, and reaction-resistance to mercury are improved since the electrode is made of the Ni alloy of the above composition instead of a nickel simple substance, and high brightness and longer life of the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp are attained.
