PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode active material reducing the amount of a rare metal element such as lithium and producing a sodium secondary battery having a greater discharge capacity-maintaining rate during repeating charge and discharge.
SOLUTION : The electrode active material manufacturing method includes : contacting aqueous solution containing M (M is two or more types of metal elements selected from a group consisting of metal elements excluding an alkali metal element) with precipitant to produce precipitate; and mixing the precipitate with a sodium compound and firing them. The electrode active material consists of powder composite metal oxide containing sodium and the M (the M has the same meaning) and has a particle size (D50) of smaller than 1.0 μm, when viewed from the side of micro particles during 50% accumulation, in accumulated particle size distribution on the volume basis of the powder.
