PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an ASE (Amplified Spontaneous Emission) light source which highly efficiently provides low-coherent UV light or visible light with high output.
SOLUTION : The ASE light source includes a pumping source and an amplification portion composed of an optical waveguide in which a rare earth element emitting an amplified spontaneous emission with exciting light of the pumping source is added to a core. In the ASE light source, an oscillation wavelength of the pumping source is one or more wavelengths selected from the range of 340 to 490 nm, a core portion of the optical waveguide is made of fluoride glass, the wavelength band of the amplified spontaneous emission is longer than the wavelength band of the exciting light, and the UV light or visible light included in the range of 340 to 780 nm is output.
