PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a continuously cast slab which can be used as the stock for a steel sheet in which a stripe pattern in the surface is hard to be generated upon bending, and to provide a continuous casting method therefor. SOLUTION : The continuously cast slab for a high strength steel sheet has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.03 to 0.15% C, 0.005 to 0.5% Si, 2.0 to 4.0% Mn, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.01% S, 0.01 to 1.0% Al, ≤0.01% N, 0.0001 to 0.005% Mg and 0.003 to 0.50% Ti, and further comprising one or more selected from ≤0.50% Nb, ≤0.01% Ca and ≤0.01% rare earth metals, and the balance Fe with impurities, and in which the ratio of a δ phase in a solidified structure at a solidus temperature is ≥50%.
