PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical circuit wherein the period in which an optical signal can be delayed or memorized is variable and attenuation of the optical signal can be suppressed even if the period is long. SOLUTION : When the optical circuit performs a write-in operation, exciting light λpoutputted from an exciting light source 43 is inputted to an optical waveguide 23 for exciting from an exciting light input end 13, transmitted through the optical waveguide 23 for exciting, outputted to a loop optical waveguide 20 from an optical coupling part 33 for exciting and excites a rare earth element added to the loop optical waveguide 20. If an optical signal λsis inputted to an optical input end 11 when an optical coupling part 31 for input is in an ON state, the optical signal λsis transmitted through an optical waveguide 21 for input, outputted from the optical coupling part 31 for input to the loop optical waveguide 20 and transmitted through the loop optical waveguide 20.
