PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material suitable for an electrode of a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp, an electrode, an electrode member, a manufacturing method for an electrode of a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp using the electrode material, and the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp which has higher luminance and longer life.
SOLUTION : In the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp 100 comprising a glass tube 102 having a phosphor layer 101 on an inner wall surface and enclosing a rare gas and mercury in the inside and a pair of electrodes 103 arranged on both ends in the glass tube 102, the electrode is formed by a nickel alloy in which at least one element selected from Ti, Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Si, Al, Y, Mg, In, and rare earth elements is contained in the amount of 0.001-5.0 wt.% as a sum and the balance is made of Ni and impurities. Discharge characteristics, oxidation resistance, sputtering-proofing, and reaction-proofing with mercury can be improved in case that the electrode is made of the Ni alloy with the composition instead of a simple nickel substance, and high luminance and longer life of the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp can be realized.
