PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphor capable of emitting light at a high luminous efficiency while avoiding cost and environment at problems. SOLUTION : The phosphor comprises SiO2 and Al2O3, the content of Al2O3 being 1-10 mol%, has infinitely many continuous voids formed therein, and comprises vitrious material to which radicalized carbon is bonded. The vitrious material does not contain a harmful heavy metal, a transition metal, or a rare-earth ion, and emits near-ultraviolet light, i.e., white light of 400-600 nm as exciting light.
