PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a printing control device and a control method of the printing control device which have sufficient capability against rare excessive load and do not cause size increase of a power source and increase of cost. SOLUTION : The printing control device includes a print head, a heat generating element which heats the print head, the power source which is a supply source of a control pulse that drives the heat generating element, a capacitor connected to a load in parallel, and a control pulse width control means which adjusts the width of the control pulse in accordance with the state that the electric potential of the capacitor is changed with respect to an integral value of the load amount immediately before when excessive load is continuous.
