PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic in which a dielectric constant and the change rate of temperature properties are improved by reducing the volume fraction of a shell in an atomized core-shell structure, and to provide a capacitor using the same. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic is composed of crystal particles 1 essentially composed of barium titanate and comprising magnesium, rare earth elements and manganese, and has a core-shell structure where the core part 1a located in the center of each crystal particle 1 is composed of a tetragonal crystal, and the shell part 1b located around the core part 1a is composed of a cubic crystal. The average particle diameter of the crystal particles 1 is 60 to 180 nm, and, provided that the volume of the shell part 1b is defined as Vs and the volume of the core part is defined as Vc, the volume fraction of the shell part to the volume Vs+Vc of all the crystal particles, Vs/(Vs+Vc) is 0.227 to 0.58.
