PURPOSE : A phosphor is provided to realize improved light-emitting quantum efficiency by intentionally breaking the inversion symmetry of crystal fields to increase the transition strength. CONSTITUTION : A phosphor comprises oxide crystals containing at least a first metal ion and a second metal ion as a base, wherein the first metal ion is at least one metal ion with valence III selected from aluminum, gallium, vanadium, scandium, antimony and indium, the metal ion with valence III is partially substituted with at least one rare earth metal ion with valence III functioning as a light emitting material, and the second metal ion is a metal ion other than metal ions with valence II. © KIPO 2008
