PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing rare earth-iron-nitrogen-based alloy powder in which deterioration in magnetic properties is prevented, and having satisfactory coercive force and squareness at a high yield by a reduction diffusion process.SOLUTION : Rare earth oxide powder is reduced, so as to be diffused into iron, thus a porous lumpy reaction product comprising rare earth-iron-based alloy powder and by products produced by the reduction is obtained. The porous lumpy reaction product is exposed to a hydrogen atmosphere, so as to obtain a lumpy collapsed material. The obtained lumpy collapsed material is subjected to particle size 4 mesh (tyler mesh) classification, the lumpy collapsed material on a sieve is crushed, and heat treatment is performed in an atmosphere comprising nitrogen, so as to nitride the rare earth-iron-based alloy powder, and by-products are removed by wet treatment.COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
