Disclosed is an oxygen storage material which shows an excellent oxygen-storage ability even when the material is used for a long time under high temperature conditions. The oxygen-storage material comprises : a first particle comprising a composite oxide of cerium and zirconium or a composite oxide of cerium, a rare earth element other than cerium and zirconium; a second particle comprising a composite oxide of a rare earth element, an alkali earth element and zirconium; and a noble metal, wherein a part of the noble metal and the composite oxide contained in the second particle together form a solid solution.
