PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a photocatalytic coating agent which is made to have multiple functions such as hydrophilicity, an antifouling property, an antibacterial property and a deodorizing function and based on a photocatalyst-functional material and to provide a vapor deposition method. SOLUTION : The photocatalytic coating agent is obtained by incorporating a mineral containing a thorium oxide gel or rare elements or another mineral containing the thorium oxide gel and the rare elements as a promoter in the photocatalyst-functional material to strengthen a photocatalytic action of the photocatalyst-functional material. The vapor deposition method comprises a step of depositing the photocatalytic coating agent on a base material such as glass, a metal, a resin and ceramics by evaporation.
