CATALYST PROMOTER FOR PRODUCING TRIFLUOROIODOMETHANE AND PENTAFLUOROIODOETHANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a fluoroiodoalkane compound represented by formula : CF3(CF2)n-I (wherein, n is 0 or 1). SOLUTION : The method comprises a step of subjecting (i) a compound represented by formula : CF3(CF2)n-Y (wherein, Y is selected from H, Cl, Br and COOH; and n is 0 or 1), (ii) an iodine supply source, (iii) an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt catalyst supported on a carrier and (iv) a catalyst promoter for the alkali or alkaline earth metal salt catalyst into mutual contact; wherein the catalyst promoter includes at least one element selected from transition metal elements, rare earth metal elements, typical element except alkali and alkaline earth metal elements, respective salts thereof, and combinations of the above elements and the respective salts thereof. The contact is conducted at a temperature and pressure suitable for producing the objective fluoroiodoalkane compound for a sufficient period of time. COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
