PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for simultaneously catalytically purifying and removing nitrogen oxide and unburnt carbon contained in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine in a wide temperature range even in the presence of sulfur oxide. SOLUTION : The catalyst for catalytically reducing nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas of the diesel engine using unburnt carbon contained in the exhaust gas of the diesel engine is composed of acid type zeolite (a), zeolite (b) containing an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal, zeolite (c) containing a rare earth metal or zeolite (d) containing at least one kind of a transition metal selected from Fe, Co, Ni and Cu.
