A process for the dehydrogenation of a hydrocarbon feedstock in the presence of a catalyst comprising a noble metal M selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, rhodium and iridium, X1 at least one promoter selected from the group consisting of tin, germanium, lead, X2 and optionally a promoter selected from the group consisting of gallium, indium and thallium, an alkali or alkaline earth compound and a porous support, wherein the atomic ratio and optionally X1/M X2/M is between 0.3 and 8, the ratio hir/m measured by adsorption of hydrogen is greater than 0.40, and the index IBM bimétallicité measured by titration of hydrogen/oxygen is greater than 108.
