This invention provides a dielectric ceramic comprising a crystal grain composed mainly of barium titanate further comprising magnesium, a rare earth element, and manganese. The crystal grain has a cubic crystal structure. The contents of magnesium, the rare earth element (RE), and manganese based on one mole of barium are 0.033 to 0.085 mole in terms of MgO, 0.1 to 0.2 mole in terms of RE2O3, and 0.006 to 0.018 mole in terms of MnO, respectively. Thus, a dielectric ceramic, which has high permittivity and stable temperature characteristics of specific permittivity, and is free from spontaneous polarization.
