PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator crystal sufficiently suitable for photomultiplier tubes when used as a scintillator without lowering a crystal density and an effective atomic number, and a radiation detector using the same.
SOLUTION : The scintillator crystal is expressed by general formula (1) : Ln(1-y)CeyX3 : M (1). In the general formula (1), Ln(1-y)CeyX3 expresses the chemical composition of a parent material, Ln expresses one or more elements selected from a group consisting of rare earth elements, X expresses one or more elements selected from a group consisting of halogen elements, M expresses a specific constituent element of a dopant doped in the parent material and y expresses a numerical value satisfying the condition expressed by equation (A) : 0.0001≤y≤1 (A).
