PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a polyester resin as a fiber having a high degree of polymerization and good heat stability, and suitably utilizable for producing a rubber-reinforcing fiber such as a tire cord, belt, hose, etc.
SOLUTION : This polyester resin for the rubber-reinforcing fiber, obtained from a dicarboxylic acid component consisting mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and/or its ester-forming derivatives and a diol component consisting mainly of ethylene glycol by using a catalyst consisting of a titanium compound, an alkaline earth compound and a phosphorus compound is provided with that by taking the content of titanium atom originated from the titanium compound in the polyester resin as T (mol/ton resin), the content of alkaline earth metal atom originated from the alkaline earth metal compound as M (mol/ton resin) and the content of phosphorus atom originated from the phosphorus compound as P (mol/ton resin), T, M and P satisfy the following formulae (1) to (5), and the resin has ≥0.90 dL/g and ≤1.50 dL/g intrinsic viscosity, ≤30 equivalent/ton resin amount of terminal carboxyl group, and ≥92% intrinsic viscosity-holding rate after heating for melting at 290°C. Provided that, 0.020≤T≤0.400 (1), 0.040≤M≤0.850 (2), 0.030≤P≤0.800 (3), 0.10≤M/P≤3.00 (4), 0.20≤M/T≤4.00 (5).
