PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a voltage nonlinear resistor porcelain composition capable of having low electrostatic capacity while keeping voltage nonlinear characteristics excellent, an electronic component, and a multilayer chip varistor. SOLUTION : The voltage nonlinear resistor porcelain composition which constitutes a voltage nonlinear resistor layer 11 has a main component containing zinc oxide, a first sub-component containing oxide of rare earth metal, a second sub-component containing oxide of Ca, and a third sub-component containing oxide of Si. The radio of the second sub-component to 100 mol of the main component is ≥2 atom% and <80 atom% in terms of Ca. The ratio of the third sub-component to 100 mol of the main component is ≤1 atom% and <40 atom% in terms of Si. The atom ratio (Ca/Si) of Ca to Si is ≥1. COPYRIGHT : (C)2009, JPO&INPIT
