PURPOSE : An electric dust collector and an air cleaner including the electric dust collector are provided to increases the collecting efficiency of the dust in the collecting plate by improving negative electric charge of a discharge plate.CONSTITUTION : An electric dust collector comprises : a high voltage generator which is arranged inside the housing, is provided with the power source and generates the high voltage; a discharge plate which is provided with the high voltage generated in the high voltage generator and collects the dust, performs ionization and discharge; an earth plate(76); and a dust collecting plate(78). The discharge plate, earth plate and dust collecting plate are formed in the plate shape. A plurality of inlet holes(74a, 76a, 78a) inhaling the air are formed. A plurality of discharge pins(74b) which are vertical to the inlet hole of the discharge plate generate negative charge and collect the dust through the earth plate. The negative charge is generated in the dust particle and the dust is collected in the dust collecting plate.© KIPO 2009
