PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an intense light emitting rare earth complex excellent in emission properties and exhibiting sharp emission spectrum. SOLUTION : The intense light emitting rare earth complex is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, Ln is a rare earth atom; a, b and c are each a positive integer of ≤3 or 0, and all of them are not 0 at the same time; R1 to R18 may be the same as or different from one another, being each a 1-10C hydrocarbon group, wherein R1 and R2, R3 and R4, R5 and R6, R7 and R8, R9 and R10, R11 and R12, R13 and R14, R15 and R16, and R17 and R18 may each be bound to each other to form a cyclic structure; n is an integer of 1-5; Y1 and Y2 are each a 1-20C hydrocarbon, amino, hydroxy, nitro, sulfo, cyano, silyl, phosphono, diazo or mercapto group; and Z is a hydrogen or deuterium atom).
